Palmer papers access denied

CLIVE Palmer has won a bid to block court rival Citic Pacific from gaining access to his flagship company Mineralogy’s books.

The financial records were tendered during public examination hearings into Queensland Nickel’s collapse in the Federal Court in Brisbane, and Citic applied for access amid a court stoush in WA with the company over royalties.

But yesterday, QN’s liquidators and Mr Palmer’s lawyers told the court they had reached an agreement for the records to only be made available for the purpose of liquidation.

Mr Palmer’s lawyer, Sam Iskander, said Citic sought the information “for its own benefit” and was “not even a creditor” of Queensland Nickel.

Justice John Reeves refused to allow Citic to access the exhibit.

Mr Iskander indicated he would apply for Citic to pay costs of court, but later abandoned the move.
