’ BIG FOUR’ BANK RULES OUT MINE FUNDS

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

ALL of the “big four” Australian banks have now ruled themselves out of funding the $ 5 billion first stage of the Adani mine in central Queensland.

The Commonwealth Bank added its name to the list but also said it hadn’t been asked.

“While in general we do not comment on specific clients, we can confirm that we are not among the banks who have been, or will be, asked to consider this financing,” the bank said.

Adani said it welcomed the CBA clarifying its position, but pointed out that it had not and did not intend to approach that banker for project finance.
