Injured woman mystery
MYSTERY surrounds the discovery of a critically injured woman found unconscious on the side of the Bruce Highway in Cairns at the weekend.
The woman, in her mid- 30s, remains on life support in the Cairns Hospital after she was discovered in a drain over Charles Creek in Earlville about 9.15pm on Saturday.
Police are eager to speak to a man who approached officers at an RBT site and tipped them off about the woman. It’s understood detectives have been unable to contact him.
Authorities say the woman had attended the Cairns Cup racing carnival earlier that day.
They want to hear from anybody who may have seen a woman walking inbound on the outbound side of the Bruce Highway between the Cannon Park Racecourse and the Caltex service station between 6.30pm and 9.15pm.
