THE Queens­land women re­main un­de­feated at the Aus­tralian Coun­try Hockey Cham­pi­onships af­ter beat­ing Victoria 5- 0 in Townsville yes­ter­day.

Townsville’s Car­lie Pearce scored a goal as the Queens­lan­ders dom­i­nated the con­test to ce­ment their place at the top of the stand­ings with a per­fect 3- 0 record.

Queens­land’s cam­paign started strongly with a 2- 1 win over de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons New South Wales be­fore thump­ing South Aus­tralia 5- 2.

Mean­while, the Queens­land men suf­fered their first loss yes­ter­day as Victoria held off a late charge for a 2- 1 vic­tory. The Queens­lan­ders came out fir­ing to beat arch ri­vals New South Wales 2- 0, with Townsville’s Lach­lan Matschoss scor­ing the open­ing goal, be­fore over­com­ing South Aus­tralia 5- 2 to still be in a strong po­si­tion for the fi­nals.

All teams have a rest day to­day be­fore the Queens­land men and women re­sume their cam­paigns against the Aus­tralian De­fence Force to­mor­row.
