THE Queensland women remain undefeated at the Australian Country Hockey Championships after beating Victoria 5- 0 in Townsville yesterday.
Townsville’s Carlie Pearce scored a goal as the Queenslanders dominated the contest to cement their place at the top of the standings with a perfect 3- 0 record.
Queensland’s campaign started strongly with a 2- 1 win over defending champions New South Wales before thumping South Australia 5- 2.
Meanwhile, the Queensland men suffered their first loss yesterday as Victoria held off a late charge for a 2- 1 victory. The Queenslanders came out firing to beat arch rivals New South Wales 2- 0, with Townsville’s Lachlan Matschoss scoring the opening goal, before overcoming South Australia 5- 2 to still be in a strong position for the finals.
All teams have a rest day today before the Queensland men and women resume their campaigns against the Australian Defence Force tomorrow.
