Easts Tigers dangerous in finals charge

Townsville Bulletin - - SPORT - RIKKI- LEE ARNOLD PETER BADEL

EASTS Tigers skipper Jake Foster has declared his side can “definitely” win this year’s competition, after they struck up a commanding 46- 10 victory over Souths Logan.

The Tigers sent a warning to competition leaders PNG and second- placed Redcliffe yesterday, after they moved into third spot on the Intrust Super Cup ladder.

Scott Sipple’s side were ruthless as they took down an injury- ravaged Magpies and it appears the quiet achievers are hitting form at the perfect time ahead of this year’s finals, with just two rounds of the regular season remaining.

With a bye next week, Foster said his team had plenty of confidence they could be a finals force this year.

By getting the two points yesterday, Easts have secured a top- four finish.

On Saturday, PNG continued their march towards the minor premiership with a 24- 16 victory over Townsville, while Redcliffe also claimed an expected two points over Tweed Heads, with a 30- 4 win.

Norths caused the upset of the round, beating fourthplaced Sunshine Coast 18- 10.
