Kirk gains shot at major
AUSTRALIAN golfer Katherine Kirk teed off in the final group at the rain- shortened Evian Championship in France overnight with a great chance to claim her first major championship title.
Kirk started the final round only two shots off the lead after shooting a two- under- par 69 second round on Saturday to get to seven under. Neither of the two players ahead of her has yet won on the LPGA Tour. Moriya Jutanugarn, of Thailand, led at nine- under after carding a three- under- par 68.
Jutanugarn is one shot clear of Japan’s Ayako Uehara, who soared with a 66. Lurking in fourth place, a shot behind Kirk, were recent major champions InKyung Kim and Sung Hyun Park, along with former world No. 1 Lydia Ko.
