HEARTBREAK AND HOPE
TOWNSVILLE romantics watched in force as the Honey Badger sent shockwaves through The Bachelor Australia’s loyal followers last week.
Nick Cummins saved a twist to rival his haircut for the WIN Network program’s finale as he chose neither Brittany Hockley ( pictured) nor Sophie Tieman as his romantic match.
The Honey Badger left viewers resembling stunned mullets as the Australian Wallabies rugby union star broke not one, but two hearts. In the Townsville TV market, the show peaked at 22,845 viewers, with a commercial share of 37.8 per cent on Total People. That means about one in nine people in Townsville tuned into the show.
The Bulletin profiled dozens of local singles earlier this year, showing there are plenty of people looking for love in Townsville. Several of our own bachelorettes have already lightheartedly contacted the paper seeking help to get in contact with Cummins since his decision to stay single.
The most successful incarnation of The Bachelor Australia to date, this year’s season reached 94,186 Townsville viewers over its duration. Nationally, the finale attracted a peak of 1.83 million viewers.
