> The $ 2.2 bil­lion Aus­tralian- Sin­ga­pore Mil­i­tary Train­ing Ini­tia­tive would see 14,000 Sin­ga­porean sol­diers train­ing in the area for 14 weeks a year for 25 years. > Pro­fes­sional ser­vice com­pany KPMG states that the op­er­a­tional phase — which is when sol­diers start us­ing the train­ing fa­cil­ity — will hap­pen in 2026 ( there are in­di­ca­tions Sin­ga­pore troops could start ar­riv­ing much sooner). > Dur­ing the life of the train­ing fa­cil­ity — es­ti­mated to be at least 25 years — KPMG es­ti­mates $ 36.2 mil­lion a year will be spent in Townsville.
