TOWNSVILLE City Coun­cil’s pub­lic af­fairs team has scooped two more awards at the Lo­cal Govern­ment As­so­ci­a­tion Queens­land con­fer­ence.

The coun­cil was awarded the best cre­ative cam­paign for Lit­ter- ally Im­prov­ing Waste around coun­cil’s waste re­forms, with so­cial me­dia of­fi­cer Con­nor Wal­lace the dual re­cip­i­ent of best com­mu­ni­ca­tion and best dig­i­tal pro­fes­sional.

Mayor Jenny Hill said the awards recog­nised Townsville’s tal­ent as among the best in Queens­land.

“The con­cepts were cre­ated in­ter­nally and we even used our own garbage truck driver in the TV com­mer­cials – and he’s be­come a lo­cal celebrity in his own right,” she said.

Cr Hill said the coun­cil was fo­cused on com­mu­ni­cat­ing ef­fec­tively with the whole com­mu­nity.
