Ute slams into crowd

A UTE has ploughed into a crowd in California, injuring at least nine, some critically.

Police arrested a 22-yearold man on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after the ute crashed into a popular area of Fullerton filled with people leaving bars shortly before closing time in the early hours of Sunday morning. “It was a very chaotic scene,” Lt Jon Radus said.

The Toyota Tacoma jumped the kerb, struck people and then hit a tree, he said.

The victims were aged between 18 and 49.
