GOOD OIL OPENER
Japan has long been referred to as the Land of the Rising Sun. But we here at Tracks feel it’s time for a change. From this moment Japan shall henceforth be known as, ‘The Land of the Best Giant Horseshoe Rip Bowl Ever’.
This set-up has to be the closest thing to a surfing funpark we’ve ever seen. For the natural footer, there’s the oriental Kirra seen grinding away in the foreground, and for the goofy footers, because we’d all know you’d rather surf a left when it’s on offer no matter how much worse than the right, we have a lovely left option seen streaking into the distance on the other side.
This shot comes from a recent trip to The Land of the Best Giant Horseshoe Rip Bowl Ever, undertaken by Anthony Walsh, Zeke Lau, Cheyne Magnusson and photographer Brent Bielmann. And while we can only show you this sneak peek of the action now, be sure to grab August Tracks to see this wave in all its glory. You won’t be disappointed.
