Uluru lights up

Trav­elbul­letin was given an exclusive first look the mes­meris­ing Field of Light in­stal­la­tion at Uluru be­fore it opened to the pub­lic on 1 April. The art­work which fea­tures 50,000 so­lar pow­ered lights con­nected via il­lu­mi­nated op­ti­cal fi­bre is the brain­child of in­ter­na­tion­ally recog­nised English artist Bruce Munro. Path­ways cre­ated through the glass-frosted lights al­low view­ers to walk amongst the enor­mous spec­ta­cle span­ning an area the size of four football fields. The awe-in­spir­ing ex­hi­bi­tion which can be best ap­pre­ci­ated af­ter sun­set and be­fore sun­rise will re­main open to the pub­lic for one year un­til 31 March 2017. En­try level passes start at $35 per adult and $25 per child. The view­ing can be tied in with add-ons which in­cludes a three-course bush tucker in­spired menu or pre sun­set a camel ride fin­ish­ing with a view of the Field of Light com­ing to life as dark­ness falls.
