New bikes for Avalon

AVALON Wa­ter­ways has added bi­cy­cles to its en­tire Euro­pean fleet of river ships, with the light-weight fold­able cy­cles able to be quickly de­ployed to al­low guests to ex­plore lo­cal vil­lages and river­side scenery un­der their own steam. Man­u­fac­tured by Tern, the in­no­va­tive de­sign in­cor­po­rates re­cy­cled alu­minium and en­vi­ron­men­tally friendly ma­te­ri­als. Six bikes are car­ried on the larger 135m ves­sels, and five on the 110m ships, and they are made avail­able for guests to re­serve at no charge along with maps, hel­mets and drink­ing wa­ter.

The on­board bikes com­ple­ment a range of reg­u­lar cy­cling ex­cur­sions al­ready avail­able on many itin­er­ar­ies. Avalon’s 2017 Euro­pean pro­grams also in­clude a range of Ac­tive Dis­cov­ery cruises which fea­ture op­por­tu­ni­ties to bike, hike and ca­noe along the Danube, ac­cord­ing to Globus Fam­ily of Brands mar­ket­ing man­ager Chris Fun­dell.
