Hike up to the Guia Light House and Fortress

Travel Bulletin - - MACAO -

FOR fitness fanatics or holiday-makers that like to get the blood pumping, a hike up to the summit of Guia Hill to see the light house and fortress is a must-do. Built in 1865 as a chief observation post during colonial times, the fort is well preserved and still contains within barracks, a water cistern, an ammunition cache and a chapel. The lighthouse within is the oldest on the Chinese coast and towers 91 metres high, with its beam able to be seen from up to 30 kilometres away.
