50 Degrees North expands with new sales staff

ON THE GO tours has launched a selection of cruising expedition­s to Antarctica. The company is offering four itinerarie­s to the frozen continent, ranging from nine to 20 days. Prices for the excursions lead in at NZ$12,860 per person. The nine-day Antarctica Taster journey navigates the Gerlache Strait, the Neumayer Channel, and the narrow passages of the Lemaire Channel. Daily shore landings include Paradise Bay, the Melchior Island group and, if ice conditions permit, Petermann Island – home to the Gentoo penguins. The 11-day Classic Antarctica follows a similar itinerary, introducin­g explorers to the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. The 12-day Polar Circle Quest continues the BOUTIQUE Nordic tour operator 50 Degrees North is expanding with new representa­tive offices to open in Vancouver and Canada. Extra destinatio­n specialist­s are also being hired in both the Australian and Norway offices. Owner and CEO of 50Degrees North Tietse Stelma said even with the expansion, their aim is still to remain a “relatively small and boutique tour operator”. “We want focus more exclusivel­y on those products we believe are the best, rather than trying to sell everything to anyone,” she said. All 12 sales staff at the independen­tly owned tour company are Nordic nationals offering unique in-depth knowledge of the region. journey further south to cross the Antarctic Circle. Those wanting to have a full immersive experience can get on board the 20-day Classic South Georgia tour which heads out east visiting the Western Falklands Islands, Eastern Falkland Islands, South Georgia, Elephant Island, the Antarctic Peninsula, the South Shetland Islands and Drake Passage.
