Flights from Aus­tralia to Los An­ge­les via Viet­nam are on the radar, with Viet­nam Air­lines plot­ting to in­tro­duce a new ser­vice from Ho Chi Minh City start­ing 30 Oc­to­ber 2018. Ac­cord­ing to pa­pers lodged with the US Gov­ern­ment, Viet­nam Air­lines is seek­ing per­mis­sion to com­mence a daily non-stop ser­vice from the Viet­namese city us­ing new state-of-the-art Air­bus A350-900 air­craft. Los An­ge­les is one of a num­ber of des­ti­na­tions in the US that the Skyteam mem­ber car­rier is hop­ing to add, with San Fran­cisco, New York, Seat­tle and Dal­las/fort Worth also be­ing con­sid­ered for the fu­ture, along with Van­cou­ver, Mon­treal and Toronto in Canada. Viet­nam Air­lines’ A350s will be con­fig­ured with 305 seats spread across a three class cabin (29 in Busi­ness, 36 in Premium Econ­omy and 240 in Econ­omy). Cur­rently, Viet­nam Air­lines op­er­ates from Syd­ney and Mel­bourne to Ho Chi Minh City and the cap­i­tal, Hanoi.
