Carnival or­ders two more

PRINCESS Cruises and Hol­land Amer­ica Line (HAL) are ex­pand­ing their fleets fol­low­ing Carnival Cor­po­ra­tion’s re­cent Mem­o­ran­dum of Agree­ment with ship­builder Fin­cantieri for two new ves­sels. Princess’ new 145,000-tonne ship will be the sixth Royal class ves­sel, ac­com­mo­dat­ing 3,660 pas­sen­gers, while HAL’S 99,500-tonne and 2,660-pas­sen­ger ves­sel will be the line’s third Pin­na­cle class ves­sel. The new HAL ad­di­tion will be built at Fin­cantieri’s ship­yard in Marghera, Italy, and is ex­pected to be de­liv­ered in 2021. The Princess ship will be con­structed in Mon­fal­cone, Italy, and is due to be fin­ished in 2022. The new Princess ship will fea­ture the wear­able Ocean Medal­lion, which records guests’ dig­i­tal iden­tity, al­low­ing cash­less trans­ac­tions and ac­cess to state­rooms.
