Emirates

will expand its Airbus A380 services in the Asia Pacific region next year, with the addition of a second daily flight to Singapore and its sixth A380 service to Australia.

Effective 1 March 2016, Emirates will upgrade its daily Dubai-Singapore-Melbourne service from a Boeing 777 aircraft to the double-decker A380. This will make Australia the third largest A380 destination for Emirates, with six daily A380 services to four Australian cities - Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

“Emirates’ daily service between Dubai and Melbourne, through Singapore, has proven a popular choice amongst travellers and we’re pleased to be able to provide additional capacity on this route by up-gauging the aircraft to our flagship A380,” said Barry Brown, Emirates' divisional senior vice president of commercial - east.

“With 65 A380s in the Emirates fleet serving 35 destinations globally, and a further 75 aircraft on order, it remains firmly embedded in the future expansion plans for our global network.”

The Emirates' A380 operating the Dubai-Singapore-Melbourne route is able to carry 519 passengers in three cabins, with 14 seats in first class, 76 in business class and 429 in economy.

The latest A380 service to the Asia Pacific region follows the announcement of Emirates' fourth daily A380 flight to Bangkok, which will start on 1 December 2015.
