BONTRAGER RACE X LITE CLIP ON £159.99 bontrager.com Weight 454g Bontrager make three different clip on sets, including these fully adjustable X Lite models with carbon fibre extensions. The bar clamps are cold forged for strength, while the pad spars are offset slightly backwards, so watch knee clearance on really short bikes. Four span holes, plus three width and four bolt positions on the pad plate, make it comfortable. The curved ‘pistol grip’ extensions complete some of the most ergonomic bars available. 3T CLIP ON PRO £99.99 i-ride.co.uk Weight 525g 3T’s Pro clips are a neat, midweight design with more height adjustment than most affordable set ups. The forged bar clamps hold the extensions to the sides of the direct mount pads but there’s little sideways adjustment in relation to the extensions. The deeply curved pads need accurate alignment as they’re very prescriptive in terms of forearm grip, but confidence is high once set up right. The extensions are subtly curved and slotted for internal gear routing. OVERALL

DEDA PARABOLICA UNO £83.99 chickencycles.co.uk Weight 382g There are no gear slots in the extensions so you’ll have to tape control lines externally, but they are laser etched for symmetrical set up. The overbar extension mount is a nicely shaped forged clamp, and direct mount pad plates keep weight to a minimum. The 4x4 grid of mounting holes means plenty of potential positions, and the triangular pad shape is forgiving of different arm angles. OVERALL

ZIPP VUKA ALUMINA CLIP, CARBON EXTENSION £209 fisheroutdoor.co.uk Weight 426g Rather than a set package, you build your own bars from various options. The carbon extensions have a rough, textured grip tip and inset gear cable entry ports in straight, ski and hockey bend shapes. These can be matched to under bar and over bar clamps with adjustable rise angles for the arms and various lift kits or side adjustment wings. OVERALL

PROFILE DESIGN T5 £109.99 madison.co.uk Weight 496g Profile’s new T5+ bars use separate bar and arm rest clamps for uniquely independent position adjustment. As well as being able to slide up and down the extensions in front or behind the bar clamps, the raised outer edge F-19 arm pad plates also have 45mm of fore and aft adjustment. The rounded edge main clamps come with 26.4mm shims. All adjustment bolts are easy to get to so set up is a snap. OVERALL

USE TR2 £229.98 ultimateuse.com Weight 336g The ultra light minimalist design doesn’t leave much room to manoeuvre. The long carbon extensions have a bright red alloy butt plug to stop clamp crush, but that means you can’t move them backwards too much. There are shorter and different angle, shape and straight extension options, or you can choose alloy versions and trim. Not the best choice for bigger riders but it’s hard to fault their minimal weight. OVERALL
