Triathlon Plus - - The Big Test -

THE PACKABLE NATURE of the Gwalch jacket makes it versatile, and easily stashed in a back pocket until it’s required. Its seams are internally taped to ensure they’re not a weak link in its armoury, and there’s a full-length waterproof zip at the front. However, its breathability isn’t as good as at least half of the other jackets on test. Its sleeves are a little baggy and flap about in high wind, and although there’s a usefully low section of the material protecting your rump for water fired off the rear tyre, it’s not adequately secured and rides up your back easily. On the plus side, the collar is very soft next to the neck and reflective details give you a fighting chance if you’re riding in poor light. The single decent-sized rear pocket has a waterproof zipper, which allowed nothing through. We’d confidently leave a mobile phone in there.
