Hope of a reunion for Toadie and Sonya fades when they clash over how to deal with their troubled daughter
They were so close to getting back together after a tumultuous period of heartache and betrayal but Toadie and Sonya look like they’re headed back to square one. The two have made so much progress towards becoming a couple again but a shock revelation about Nell is about to change all that. Toadie (Ryan Moloney) and Sonya (Eve Morey) front up to Nell’s (Scarlett Anderson) parent-teacher meeting together but are stunned to hear their daughter isn’t doing so well and isn’t ready to start primary school. The news hits Toadie and Sonya like a ton of bricks as they realise the impact of their marriage problems on their little girl. Their family troubles hark back to Sonya’s desire to be a surrogate for Mark (Scott McGregor) and Steph’s (Carla Bonner) baby and the return of Toadie’s late wife Dee (Madeleine West) who turned out to be scam artist Andrea. Then Toadie committed the ultimate betrayal and slept with Andrea, which Sonya unwittingly saw via Skype.
The disloyalty shattered their marriage. In dealing with the pain of Toadie’s actions and the grief over losing Mark’s unborn baby Sonya turned to alcohol after a lengthy period of sobriety. All of this impacted on little Nell and now the signs are starting to show.
While Toadie wants Nell to see a psychologist Sonya thinks the best thing would be to spend more time as a family. However she rejects Toadie’s suggestion they move back in together, worried it’s too soon and that any more arguments would only cause more damage to Nell.
But the situation reaches fever pitch when Nell has a furious tantrum while with Mark, which is very unlike sweet, well-behaved Nell. Mark is so shocked by it he calls Toadie to intervene. Toadie decides right then to book in with a psychologist, against Sonya’s wishes. How will Sonya react?
DIVIDED PAIR Toadie (Ryan Maloney) and Sonya (Eve Morey) fight about Nell.
