Puss’s disturbing behaviour comes to a head at Mary’s school Father & Daughter dance.
Puss’s strange conduct and plans for Mary frighten Robin as the investigation into China Girl’s death heats up
Robin has only just reunited with her daughter but fears she might lose her as Mary’s boyfriend Puss becomes dangerously erratic. The much older man and former academic has already revealed his intentions to marry Mary and has become increasingly possessive.
Puss’s (David Dencik) disturbing behaviour comes to a head at Mary’s (Alice Englert) school Father & Daughter dance. He crashes the event to be with Mary there instead of her dad Pyke (Ewen Leslie), insisting that he is her “old man”. But it’s his violent behaviour at the beach the following day that truly freaks out Robin (Elisabeth Moss) about just how dangerous her daughter’s boyfriend might be.
The frightening incidents don’t stop there though and this is on top of Puss’s connection to the dead surrogate known as China Girl. Robin has been investigating that case and found that the young woman was missing sex worker Cinnamon who worked at the brothel where Puss lives.
Now one of the other pregnant girls has packed her bags and while she claims she’s going on a holiday Mary fears she might suffer the same fate as Cinnamon. However, the scariest part is Puss’s weird video message involving the whole brothel.
The worrying situation with Puss and Mary is only adding to the emotional turmoil Robin has experienced since returning to Sydney. Robin was a broken woman after her traumatic time in New Zealand and hoped her work would heal her.
Longing to meet the child she gave up for adoption 18 years before, Robin nally came face to face with Mary. They have enjoyed getting to know one another with Robin becoming someone Mary could turn to while her adoptive parents Julia (Nicole Kidman) and Pyke work through their separation.
With fears for Mary growing, Robin and Pyke are turning to each other but can Robin unravel the truth behind Puss’s intentions and the China Girl case before it’s too late? TVS
