There’s a clear attraction lurking in Kate and Andre’s otherwise cold relationship, on Days of Our Lives.
Love and marriage may go together like a horse and carriage but when it comes to Kate Roberts and her fth husband André DiMera, it’s a mutual hatred and an overwhelming passion that keeps them linked. She’s the Venus y trap to his pesky bug and is more likely to eat him alive than love him dutifully.
Even Kate (Lauren Koslow) and André’s (Thaao Penghlis) recent wedding ceremony was more hilarious than heartfelt as they made it perfectly clear to the minister officiating the nuptials that the marriage was nothing more than a business transaction to effect their control of DiMera Enterprises following Chad’s (Billy Flynn) presumed death in a plane crash.
Spouting quick and sarcastic vows, they were hurriedly declared husband and wife and began their union as they meant to go on. Within days, they were trading barbs and literally throwing baby food at each other as Kate reacted in horror to André’s desecration of her very expensive blouse. Ignoring the surprised reactions to news of their union, Kate and André relaxed into a weird relationship as they kept the family business a oat. Beneath the exterior, it was apparent that each was desperate to eventually overthrow the other and take sole control as CEO of DiMera Enterprises. They just needed incriminating facts against the other to effect the other’s departure. André struck rst when he walked into the Brady Pub and caught Kate kissing her ex-husband Roman (Josh Taylor).
Initially, André trod carefully, keenly aware that his wife wouldn’t vacate her co-CEO’s chair without official confirmation of his sound mental capacity. Obtaining the paperwork from “Marlena”, André plotted to unveil it and his plans for Kate at an outrageous press conference, totally unaware that Salem’s revered psychiatrist was actually Marlena’s doppelganger Hattie Adams (Deidre Hall) in disguise. Anticipating “kicking his backstabbing wife to the kerb”, André told the media that his marriage was fraudulent. Kate hadn’t married him for love and had cheated on him with Roman.
Despite Roman’s confirmation that the supposed infidelity was just a kiss, André ploughed on, blanking Kate’s edict that he was mentally unstable to announce he was taking over DiMera Enterprises as sole CEO.
IT TAKES TWO Kate — just like her husband — is desperate to take over their company and become sole CEO. To do this, she’s digging the dirt on him, just as he is with her. BELOVED BACKSTABBERS Andre (Thaao Penghlis) and Kate (Lauren Koslow)
