Time jump

makes for juicy stories, says APTCH cast

the decision to move A Place to Call Home four years ahead to 1958 for season five was a popular one for the cast of the show. Arianwen ParkesLockwood who plays olivia was most excited about the prospect of acting alongside a five-year-old boy after two seasons of working with multiple babies who played her character’s son Georgie. “the babies were wonderful but my arms were getting tired,” she explains. “Xavier is the boy who plays Georgie — he’s so beautiful, he’s so gorgeous. He comes up to me on set and will tell me a joke — that he’s made up — he’s such a sweetheart … so I’ve got one [this time] as opposed to I think I had 35 babies over the course [of the show].”

Meanwhile Sara Wiseman who plays carolyn says the time jump is a great way to bring new energy into the series. “It was wonderful that the stories [in season four] could be wrapped up,” she says. “And it gave Bevan [Lee, creator and writer] the opportunity to embark onto new storylines rather than have to continue to pay off old ones so it’s almost like a big breath of fresh air.”
