THE HONEYMOON IS OVER
The grooms hit a blip on Neighbours
Excitement engulfs Erinsborough as Aaron and David’s long-anticipated wedding day finally dawns! A determined Aaron promises himself he’ll overcome his nagging back pain to commit fully to David and relish the festivities. Susan’s supposed cancellation as the marriage celebrant only adds to the sense of frivolity when Aaron encounters a weird woman in The Waterhole who offers to step up as a replacement!
Proceedings are back on track but they’re soon derailed again when Aaron (Matt Wilson) throws his back out, ruining his chances of walking up the aisle unaided. With Mark (Scott McGregor) and Chloe’s (April Rose Pengilly) assistance, he makes it to the altar and even manages a few laughs when Susan (Jackie Woodburne) turns up to officiate (she never cancelled at all!) – only to lose out on reclaiming the job in a squabble with her rival!
However, the ring-in celebrant turns the ceremony on its head with her hilarious desecration of Susan’s lovingly composed wedding speech, which David (Takaya Honda) insists on including. Thankfully, she smartens up long enough to pronounce them husbands.
After a fun-filled reception, the newlyweds embark on their honeymoon and happily reflect on the path they’ve taken to get to this moment. Discussing their loving future, they vow to make time for each other and stay in sync, no matter the challenges they’re dealt. Caught up in their love bubble and with Aaron’s back healed, he and David finally dance the wedding number they’d
planned for the reception...
Perhaps the earlier sentiments are an ominous sign of what’s to come when they return to Ramsay Street. Settling in to married life, Aaron can’t sleep and as he becomes frustrated, he resorts to taking one of the strong painkillers he was prescribed. The pill does the trick and Aaron’s pain disappears – but is he becoming too heavily reliant on the drugs?
