HOT property Saying it’s time to sell the farm. So
Arcadia is nancially crumbling beneath the Knight family’s feet and – despite their insistence that it stays in the family, no matter what – , Hugh wants to cut his losses. He has sole responsibility for its upkeep as owner in the wake of Jim’s death.
With all efforts to save the land seemingly exhausted, and eager to return to Sydney as soon as possible, Hugh issues the family with a blunt edict: the farm simply has to be sold... immediately!
What’s soon obvious is that Ajax (Matt Castley) isn’t going to take the news lying down and when he hears that Whyhope Cemetery is to be dismantled, he suggests the best way to save it is to move it to the Knight property... and the family can take the pro ts from operating it, thus saving the farm.
Thrilled at her grandson’s ingenuity, Meryl (Tina Bursill) acquires Hugh’s (Rodger Corser) signature via furtive means – which only infuriates her eldest into bolstering his sell-off plans when he sees what she’s done.
Hugh’s obstinacy spurs a pig-headed Ajax into taking drastic action. Watching prospective buyers streaming through the entrance, he shoots holes in the “for sale” sign and locks the gates. And that’s just for starters! Hijacking the buyers’ tour, Ajax leads the suits into a ooded paddock intent on stranding them!
In his misguided mission to protect the Knights’ legacy, a distracted Ajax jeopardises his own. Accidentally locking baby Jimmy in his car, he freaks out and begs Hugh to do something. Putting aside the headaches he already has, Hugh joins Ajax in a frantic race to save Jimmy from the heat that’s building inside the vehicle. Will they get there and save him in time?
Penny Ivy Floyd’s (Winta McGrath) problems threaten to drive a wedge between Penny (Hayley McElhinney) and the new man she’s dating.
