Teacher mur­der case

■ A MAN was this week ex­tra­dited to NSW af­ter be­ing ar­rested in Queens­land over the 2015 mur­der of Sharon Ed­wards.

Mrs Ed­wards, a 55-year-old mother, grand­mother, and teacher, was re­ported miss­ing on March 17, 2015. She was last seen the evening prior when she ar­rived at her Grafton home af­ter din­ner with friends.

Fol­low­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions, Queens­land Po­lice de­tec­tives ar­rested a 61-year-old man at a home at Red­cliffe, Queens­land, at 1pm on Tues­day. He ap­peared at Bris­bane Mag­is­trates Court, where Strike Force Bur­row in­ves­ti­ga­tors ap­plied for and were granted his ex­tra­di­tion to NSW.

The man trav­elled with de­tec­tives to Tweed Heads Po­lice Sta­tion where he was charged with mur­der.

The ac­cused then faced Tweed Heads Lo­cal Court around 3pm. As bail was not ap­plied for, Mr Ed­wards is ex­pected to re­main in cus­tody un­til his next court ap­pear­ance in Lis­more on Au­gust 22.

It is be­lieved he has not yet en­tered a plea.
