Electorate a winner
LISMORE MP Thomas George has welcomed the NSW Budget 2017-18 claiming it delivers for his electorate.
He said funds for an additional medical team would see the region benefit from round-the-clock availability of the NSW Ambulance helicopters currently located at the Lismore base.
“This funding will be used to recruit an additional medical team of doctor and paramedic for our helicopter base to operate 24/7,” Mr George said.
He said high schools in Murwillumbah and Lismore were also set for a funding boost, while more than $27 million this financial year will go to Lismore Base Hospital upgrades.
He said Tweed locals would benefit from $1.487 million being set aside for social housing upgrades.
The Tweed’s road network is also set to gain some attention, with a $5.5 million pool allocated to north coast councils for road maintenance.
In addition to this, Mr George said $3 million would go to the region for the replacement of Korns Crossing Bridge, north-west of Murwillumbah, while $2.93 million is set aside for community transport.
