EDITOR’S DESK NIKKI TODD
IT’S been a big year so far for the Tweed, from the announcement of a new $530 million hospital, to the opening of our new police headquarters at Tweed Heads. And now, with the latest details emerging of the State Government’s $100 million investment into education in the shire, our school-aged children stand to benefit too. For so long, the Tweed has been left behind by decision-makers in Sydney, it is good they are finally waking up to the population surge that is taking place up here. Now, we just need to make sure our police, hospitals and schools are adequately staffed to deliver these vital services. Finally, I’d like to pay tribute to departing Destination Tweed head Bill Tatchell, who has worked tirelessly to promote the Tweed region as a popular destination for tourists.
