Utter chaos on Cudgen Road

Tweed Daily News - - OPINION NEWS -

WITH all the discussions about the new Kingscliff hospital site, there has been very little information about any traffic plan.

The Tweed Heads Hospital has four roads leading to it – Florence St, Brett St, Powell St, and Keith Compton Dr – and on top of that the hospital has vehicle access on four sides.

Then we come to the hospital at Kingscliff, which will be almost twice the size of the Tweed Hospital, but this hospital will only have one road access – Cudgen Rd, which is only a two-lane country road. That means every vehicle, including visitors, staff, nurses, doctors, day patients, deliveries, and emergency vehicles, will all be using the one road in.

Then you have the TAFE across the road with a car park of about 200 spaces using the same road. Add all that to the daily traffic and it doesn’t matter how many entrances or exits there are, all the traffic will still end up on the one road.

Utter chaos ensures, and remember a few years back Geoff Provest wanted paid parking in Tweed Hospital but backed off due community backlash. What’s the odds on Kingscliff hospital will have a paid car park?

❝entrances It doesn’t matter how many or exits there are, all traffic will still end up on the one road.

TRAFFIC: Some residents are concerned traffic will get worse on Cudgen Rd.
