Tweed Daily News - - OPINION - BOB ANTHONY

THE judgement of the Tweed Shire Mayor Katie Milne has been called into question following her announcement for council to boycott businesses involved with the planned Tweed Valley Hospital.

Rather than penalise businesses wanting to get involved, council should be championing their cause, ensuring they are front and centre for any contracts and tenders they could meet and manage.

For many Tweed businesses, their involvement in the project could be a game changer, not only in their own development but also in terms of job creation and the ripple effect with government investment money flowing through the greater Tweed community.

All councillors need to be aware of this and regardless of their position on the site, make sure Tweed businesses and the people they employ are among the beneficiaries of further work.
