Thanks for the support

WELL the time has come to write my last editorial for the Tweed Daily News.

I would like to thank you, the readers and advertisers, who have supported the paper over the decades and given us reason to be here.

It hasn’t just been about supplying us with stories and information but also suggestions and leads to follow.

To all the letter writers, thanks for your contributions; to the columnists who added so much to the paper, I am sure our readers enjoyed your efforts; and to our advertisers, we hope you have benefited from your support of the paper.

To all the sports and social clubs and groups, your notes and results were part of the Tweed DNA; and to the festival and event organisers, you gave us plenty to write about and take photographs of.

Thanks to the politicians at all levels over the years to worked with us in many different ways – for better or for worse – and to Tweed Shire Council and to Troy Green and his staff for helping us deliver probably the most important level of government information to residents and ratepayers.

And thanks to the emergency service people – the police, fire services, ambulance, SES, health workers and all those we depend upon in times of crisis.

The print version of the Tweed Daily may go but the coverage of the Tweed in a digital age will continue.

It’s an adjustment we will have to make but I am sure it will be one which will continue to deliver news that is important to the Tweed.

Good luck in the future.
