ALL FOR SHOW

$97,800 THE FALCON Superbird was a spectacular success for Henr y’s boys at Broadmeadows. Bathurst wins and a new showroom hero. On the track the Superbird was initia lly up against t he Torana GTR XU-1 then the L34 and A9X V8s. One of the most popular privateers was Murray Carter who has had more race starts than I have had CornFlakes. Murray was a Ford man through and through with his X W and X Y GT-HOs and was one of t he f irst into a Superbird wit h his X A. But it is his Brian Wood Ford backed XB with Deep Purple (no joke) paint work and bright yellow wheels he is best remembered for. And this is t he showcar to match. It’s fa r more t han stickers and fat t y res with a 4V 351 Cleveland under the bonnet, a toploader gearbox and LSD. Bargain buying given its claimed provenance.
