BMW E31 850i
If you read Issue #416 of Unique Cars, you’ll know how much of a fan of BMW’s E31 flagship I am. It was a technological tour de force, and BMW’s ill-timed attempt at creating a proper world-beating dream car. Avant-garde pillarless design wrapped in true 80s retro wedge fashion, they were around $220,000 when new but hover around just $50,000 on the secondhand market.
They make a more frugal (and affordable) V8 version but hell, give me the V12! Manual preferably but I wouldn’t be fussed. It’s a modern classic super coupe with all the style, technology and
grunt you could want. You’d be looking at around $50,000 for an automatic V8 or V12, with a bit of a premium for a manual.
