A PIST-A HISTORY

Urban Cyclist - - Agenda -

Since 1940, the classic Pista track pump has been favoured by professional and home mechanics around the world for precise inflation, durability and ease of service. Creator of the Pista, Italian manufacturer Silca, were the first company to integrate gauges into pumps and the first to forge a ‘highpressure’ frame pump. Fast-forward to 2017 and the Pista’s been relaunched with some contemporary touches but the same stylish feel of the original. The high-strength barrel features a leather plunger piston design that ends with an ash-wood handle and can generate pressure of up to a mighty 220psi. It takes Presta and Schrader and is really rather glorious – even more so if you throw in the travel bag that’s large enough to not only accommodate the track pump but also accoutrements like iPad, water bottles and multi-tools. All in all, very nice. www. silca.cc
