8114 K9 HEAVY-DUTY LINK PLATE LOCK

Urban Cyclist - - On Test -

£ 34.99 www.onguardlock.com

The 8114 is a budget-priced alternative to the more familiar Abus Bordo Granit (£109.99), and its similar plate and link design offers the same convenient compact package. Its corrosion resistance was spot on and it worked perfectly post-testing. A standard saw blade got through it in under 20 seconds, though, and the tungsten blade even quicker. Bolt cropper resistance was fair, but nothing special. The pull-proof disc design Z-Barrel lock mechanism is highly pick resistant but the grinder soon broke through. As a quick stop, mediumsecurity solution, the 8114 is miles ahead of most cheap cable locks. That’s why it’s more recommended that you should use this in unison with a quality U-lock.
