Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Montreal, Canada
Chagall: Colour and Music is the biggest Canadian exhibition ever devoted to Marc Chagall (1887-1985). Running until June 2017, the exhibition showcases 340 works of art and a large selection of documentary works, including films, photographs and musical excerpts that highlight Chagall’s connection to music. Covering his years in Russia, his Parisian period, his exile in New York, his time in Mexico and his life in the South of France, the exhibition has many highlights. These include an incredible projection of the ceiling of the Paris Opera completed by Chagall in 1964, the murals of the Metropolitan Opera of the Lincoln Center that he did in 1966, more than 100 costumes that he designed for the opera The Magic Flute in New York in 1966-67, and his work, The Blue Circus. Chagall: Colour and Music is on at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts until 11 June, 2017. mbam.qc.ca/en
