Mediterranean
British-Australian adventurer and environmentalist Huw Kingston embarked on the adventure of a lifetime when he set off on a kayak from Anzac Cove at Gallipoli, Turkey to embark on a year-long circumnavigation of the Mediterranean Sea. Visiting 17 countries, and travelling 14,000 kilometres by kayak, foot, rowboat and bike, Kingston’s epic journey included many memorable and challenging moments such as encountering Europe’s worsening refugee crisis upon returning to Turkey almost a year later. Throughout his travels, he raised funds for war-torn Syria’s children, becoming Save the Children Australia’s highest ever individual fundraiser. Taking in the extraordinary land and seascapes, the varied cultures and peoples, and the current state of many of those countries, Kingston’s story combines adventure, travel, and physical endurance with human stories and the celebration of friendship.
