The cabin The A380-800 features three classes spread over two decks. The upper deck has a spacious inflight lounge where premium passengers can gather in a communal zone. The economy cabin has a 3 x
3 x 3 configuration.
The seat My chair had a decent width, with a headrest that easily slides up and down to align with the passenger’s height in the seat. A detachable hand-set operated the entertainment and general controls. There was a small hook and a USB charging port; as well as two netted rear-seat pockets which stored information and the Oryx inflight magazine. Entertainment The inflight Oryx One system featured movies, TV, audio and games that can all be viewed on an LED seat-back screen. Shows were available in Islam and
Arabic; as well as children’s options. WiFi is available inflight (free for the first hour and charged thereafter). Ipod connectivity allows guests to create their own inflight entertainment.
Service The check-in staff and inflight team were very friendly and hospitable. Check-in was smooth and we departed on time. The lavatories were cleaned and serviced regularly throughout the flight.
Food + Drink Food options are presented on the Quisine menu. After my evening flight take-off, I was served turmeric rice and edamame salad; butter chicken with steamed rice and seasonal vegetables; infused focaccia; and chocolate mousse. The sparkling wine was Cava Bonaval from Spain, and the table wines were Santa Julia from Mendoza, Argentina. I noted that there was reduced plastics in-service, with economy passengers receiving steel cutlery folded in a napkin rather than a plastic satchel. Amenities All economy class passengers received a pillow, blanket, toothbrush and paste, socks, eye mask, ear plugs and lip balm. Baggage 30kg allowance.
