Some items were never in­tended to be taken on board an air­craft and oth­ers rep­re­sent a se­cu­rity risk. That’s why there are re­stric­tions on what you can pack in your carry-on bag­gage. Th­ese re­stric­tions are in place to help you and oth­ers have a safe jour­ney, trav­el­ling in and out of Australia.

PRO­HIB­ITED ITEMS IN­CLUDE:

+ Sport­ing goods, knives or knife­like items (whether or not made of metal) strong enough to be used as a weapon, tools and other ob­jects with sharp edges or points ca­pa­ble of in­jur­ing a per­son.

+ Sharp ob­jects that are not weapons, but are ca­pa­ble (with or with­out mod­i­fi­ca­tion) of caus­ing harm by pen­e­tra­tion.

+ Blunt ob­jects that are able to be used to blud­geon a per­son.

+ Flammable house­hold goods.

+ Items that can be used to re­strain some­one.

We rec­om­mend you fa­mil­iarise your­self with th­ese re­stric­tions be­fore you travel, to help you get through the se­cu­rity checks at the air­port as quickly and ef­fi­ciently as pos­si­ble.
