There is something for everyone with this month’s on-board entertainment. There are glossy, big-budget thrills courtesy of the Power Rangers, which features none other than Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, as well as Elizabeth Banks, while you can warm up for the November theatrical release of Thor: Ragnarok by revisiting Chris Hemsworth’s god of thunder in Thor and Thor: The Dark World. Smaller passengers, meanwhile, get their own unlikely hero with Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, in which two kids hypnotise their headmaster into thinking he’s a superpowered crime fighter.

There is also thoughtful historical drama, as The Zookeeper’s Wife follows the owners of The Warsaw Zoo, who fought to save hundreds of people and animals in the darkest days of World War II, and The Promise (with Christian Bale, Oscar Isaac and Charlotte Le Bon), which offers a rare look at Turkey’s horrific campaign of Armenian genocide in the early 20th century. There’s also powerful drama of the local variety with Don’t Tell, which covers the true story of a brave young girl who speaks out about her sexual abuse at a prestigious boarding school.

If you’re after something lighter, there’s comedy with the star-studded How To Be a Latin Lover, Once Upon a Time in Venice (in which Bruce Willis’s detective seeks out the gang that stole his dog), and the uplifting comedic romance-tinged-by-tragedy of The Big Sick. Throw in moving docos about the power of the natural world ( Voyage of the Southern Sun and Mountain), a look at one man’s triumph in the world of vintage gaming ( Man Vs Snake), the story of a legendary Aussie band ( The Go-Betweens: Right Here), a taut Sam Worthington thriller ( The Hunter’s Prayer), and a monster movie headlined by Anne Hathaway ( Colossal), and you have a fascinating grab-bag of films.
