All in a Day...

So much to see, so little time. Herewith, your hour-by-hour guide to navigating the best of Pacific Fair, the must-visit destination on the Gold Coast.

Virgin Australia Voyeur - - PACIFIC FAIR GOLD COAST - Words by Kathryn Madden

9.00AM SMOOTH RIDE

Forget navigating busy car parks – quick and easy transport to Pacific Fair promises a seamless shopping experience. Let the centre’s valet team park for you. For just $10 ($5 for parents with prams or seniors) you can drop and shop. Alternatively, jump on Pacific Fair’s free shuttle bus at various locations from Surfers Paradise to Nobby Beach (from 10am).

9.30AM BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS

Don’t be fooled by the name – head to Cowch Dessert Cocktail Bar for an Instagram-worthy brekkie. The menu is packed with enticing options, both sweet and savoury: granola-topped smoothie bowls (try the peanut butter special), breakfast pizzas, feta scrambled eggs, and the obligatory avocado smash. Or get your caffeine hit at The Coffee Club, perhaps paired with the salted caramel and banana pancakes or haloumi bruschetta. Fuel your body for the cardio that awaits (as in discovering the 400 amazing stores on offer).

10.15AM VIP STATUS

Make your way to the Visitor Lounge (located on the ground floor off Hooker Boulevard) to pick up your complimentary Visitor Privileges Pass. This golden ticket grants access to more than 100

exclusive offers at your favourite stores, covering fashion, health, beauty, homewares and food. Be sure to peruse the discounts and deals before reaching for your cash. While you’re in the Visitor Lounge, make use of the Pacific Fair customer service team who are on-hand for your every need. Indulge in the free fresh fruit and wi-fi, freshen up in the powder room, and relax in front of the bigscreen TV while planning your next move. Jetting home that night? The lounge features luggage lockers, meaning you can stretch out your sojourn (and shopping) until take-off, and shower facilities so you can board the plane fresh as a daisy.

10.30AM HOT COUTURE

The luxury precinct is the perfect place to kick off your sartorial spree. Whether you’re buying or browsing, it serves up inspiration in spades. A short stroll from the Visitor Lounge, the zone starts at Coach, purveyor of fine leather, continuing with super-sumptuous boutique Harrolds and American icon Michael Kors. Don’t miss current fashion-pack favourite Gucci, and take an Audrey Hepburn turn in Tiffany & Co. Drift through the high-end wares in Louis Vuitton, Prada, Bulgari, Givenchy and Christian Louboutin before finishing with Sandro and Maje, two mid-level Parisian labels exuding French-girl cool.

11.30AM STYLE GUIDE

Make like the A-list with your own one-on-one styling session. Set your fashion intention – searching for something special or undertaking a complete wardrobe overhaul – and Pacific Fair will match you with a professional. You can pre-book your personal stylist session online from just $265 for two hours.

1.30PM SUPER FOOD

All that shimmying in and out of outfits works up an appetite, so hotfoot it to Yum Cha Cuisine for dumplings. The award-winning Chinese restaurant sits on the northern edge of the complex, tantalising diners with the

tastiest steamed treats on the Gold Coast. Of course, if yum cha isn’t your jam, don’t fret – Pacific Fair is home to more than 60 food vendors covering all corners of the globe: Mad Mex for a taco fix; Asian fusion fare at Bin 232; Wild Fish & Chips; Chong Co Thai; Hero Sushi; Outback Steakhouse and Betty’s Burgers.

2.30PM LOUNGE AROUND

This is the stuff of a serial shopper’s dreams: The Resort, in the middle of Pacific Fair, is a tropical wonderland where you can rest your feet away from the masses. Think daybeds, water features, cabanas and plenty of greenery.

2.45PM BEAUTY SPOT

If your make-up bag needs a restock, you’ve come to the right place. Pacific Fair proudly boasts an Australian outlet of Sephora, the beauty-retail concept founded in France in 1970. You’ll also find Mecca Cosmetica, home to over 100 global brands, along with sister store Mecca Maxima and local favourite Napoleon Perdis.

For natural, high-quality skincare, hit Jurlique, Kiehl’s and L’Occitane. Then, squeeze in some pampering: Ella Baché for a facial and Footcare Haven’s reflexology massages.

3.30PM AUSTRALIAN IDOLS

A good starting point for checking out local design talent is on level one’s main drag outside David Jones. There’s Carla Zampatti, a onestop-shop for sophisticated evening silhouettes; Ginger & Smart, beloved for its signature easy-luxe; and carefully curated boutique Incu. Further down, put some sparkle in your life at Mimco – now an accessories stalwart; find the perfect party dress at Manning Cartell, sass & bide or Alice McCall; and pick up some seriously glitzy beachwear by kaftan queen Camilla. Men should mosey on down to M.J. Bale, Peter Jackson or Hugo Boss for slick suiting and shirts beyond the classic blue check, as well as Aquila, Country Road, Gazman and Industrie.

4.30PM HITCH A RIDE

If you want to head back to various stores to purchase the pieces you’re still lusting after, Pacific Fair’s taxi can help you get around the complex. You can’t miss the custom-built aqua-blue vehicle, which cruises around the centre’s ground floor picking up and dropping visitors at their destinations. Just hail it like a yellow cab on Fifth Avenue – no payment necessary. Make your last loop, remembering to stop off at the big chains (Zara, H&M and Uniqlo) and hot homewares destinations (Zara Home, Sheridan and T2).

5.30PM TIPPLE TIME

You’ve earned yourself a drink. Head to Comuna Cantina for an espresso martini or margarita, and why not treat yourself to a chips tasting board, nachos or soft shell tacos? A suitably delicious finale to Pacific Fair. Until next time.
