BÚL

Virgin Australia Voyeur - - PACIFIC FAIR GOLD COAST -

The brainchild of Virginia Martin, búl (rhymes with “cull”) landed on the Australian fashion map in 2010 and swiftly cemented itself as a local hero. Young designer Martin drew on her time interning at Proenza Schouler and Cynthia Rowley in New York to craft her own line of easy and attainable luxury. The Melbourne-based brand focuses on clean silhouettes and quality materials – linens, butter-soft leathers and wool. It’s fashion for the everyday elevated, with boxy midi-dresses, utilitarian jumpsuits and chic trench coats. Yet despite its functional forms, there’s a sprinkling of magic, too. Each collection takes inspiration from a far- flung locale: Iceland’s glacial valley, Sri Lanka’s golden coastline or Turkey’s Anatolian plains. This season búl’s destination du jour is Biarritz on the coast of France, its soft palette and quiet elegance reflected in the new range.
