AJE

Virgin Australia Voyeur - - PACIFIC FAIR GOLD COAST -

Founded by best friends Edwina Robinson and Adrian Norris, Aje burst onto the sartorial scene in 2008 in a whirl of sparkle. The duo hail from diverse creative fields: Norris trained at Italian art school Liceo Artistico Venezia, while Robinson worked in fashion magazines. The result is a mash up of style and substance, with a focus on maintaining artisan techniques. Glittering embellishments are hand-sewn onto garments, natural fabrics are loomed by hand and vivid patterns are painted with a brush. A decade on, the brand’s cult pieces – such as the sequinned mini – are still in hot demand, recut season after season, while making way for a fresh crop of cool-girl designs. Key to the Aje look is juxtaposition: think a micro-mini teamed with an oversized linen shirt and biker boots. Tough-luxe, personified.
