The BMW 8-Series Concept, which BMW describes as a taster to the upcoming new model, shines light on what will become a next generation coupé. Carrying over from its progenitor, the new coupé is strikingly elegant like the Series 6, but new proportions push the model towards a sleeker, sportier design, featuring broadened shoulders, a super-sized grille and low hood, as well as 21-inch alloy wheels. Signature BMW elements have also been reinterpreted, including the iconic kidney grille and the hinged boot. Completing the look is a luxurious coat of Barcelona Grey liquid, created exclusively for the Concept model.
Unlike the usual BMW interior, the cabin of the Concept boasts an attractively clean new look. From the 2+2 seat to the uncluttered centre console layout with its large infotainment system, BMW has approached an overall simple style. Thin sports seats and twotone leather cabin lining add to the Concept model's sporty character.
While there is plenty of insight into what to expect in the upcoming release, specific details of the 8 series performance data have not been revealed, though it is rumoured that the production model will share a similar drivetrain to BMW’S turbocharged 3.0-litre I-6 and 4.4-litre v-8 engines. The company also has plans to trademark varied mix of models within the 8 Series range; including 825, 830, 835, 845 and 850.
At the same time, BMW has registered an exciting new M8, a top tier performing model that will rival the Mercedes-amg GT and Porsche 911, and will likely include a convertible model.
