The magnificent Regent Theatre is one of Melbourne city’s favourite icons that dates back to the 1920’s. This heritage building tells the story of Melbourne’s theatrical aspirations and dreams. It is also a reminder of the classical past and is a metaphor for perseverance and survival. Since its inception as a grand picture palace in 1929, the Regent Theatre has weathered many storms – from fire, flood, closure and continual threats of demolition. Restored to its former glory, this iconic venue joyously reopened in 1996.
