Us­ing a pal­ette knife, brush and a gen­er­ous amount of paint, the Bun­danoon-based artist ad­mits that she de­rives great plea­sure in sur­ren­der­ing con­trol and al­low­ing the paint to take on a life of its own. Adolphs mostly works from found pho­to­graphs, and in this is­sue she col­lab­o­rated with Vogue Liv­ing’s cre­ative di­rec­tor, Natasha Allen, on the paint­ings on pages 37, 55, 65 and 153. “I find my prac­tice is a con­stant quest to find the dy­namic bal­ance of tex­ture, mark and line within paint,” says Adolphs.
