The vil­lage of Nozawa On­sen, in the north­ern part of Ja­pan’s Nagano Pre­fec­ture, is fa­mous for its pris­tine pow­der snow. It re­ceives on av­er­age 4.5 me­tres of snow an­nu­ally; dur­ing peak sea­son the vil­lage can have dumps of up to 40–50cm in 24 hours.
