Lots of mountain action in August
AT Falls Creek this week, cross country ski event Ski de Femme will be run on August 12 by the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club.
The event is aimed at getting women of all abilities involved in cross country skiing.
Saturday, August 12 will also see the Wombats Rambler Night Race – this event was postponed to this date due to inclement weather during the original event in late July.
Skiers can also enjoy the Rocky Valley Rush and Sun Valley Ramble on August 13 – considered to be an ideal warm up race for the Kangaroo Hoppet.
Meanwhile, over at Mt Hotham, you can experience the excitement of the
Australian Biathlon Championships throughout this weekend, featuring entrants of a wide range of ages at the Mt Hotham Biathlon Arena.
Events at Mt Hotham this weekend also include the Hotham Junior Free Ride Series Moguls, while between August 15-18, you can witness some fierce snow competition at the RAAF Games.
There is also plenty going on at Mt Buller, including King of the Mountain 2017 and Slopestyle 2017 on Saturday, August 12.
You can enjoy activities such as snow play, tobogganing and cross country skiing at Mt Buffalo, although snow cover can vary depending on the weather.
Facilities on the mountain include a café and day shelter at Dingo Dell.
Keep an eye on snow cams and the website of your preferred mountain, or ask your local ski hire business or tourism information centre for information on current snow conditions at resorts around the area.
