Last hur­rah for snow sea­son fun

WHILE of­fi­cial sea­son fes­tiv­i­ties have wound up at most of the moun­tains of the re­gion, there is still op­por­tu­ni­ties for moun­tain fun.

This week at Falls Creek sees the McKayos Grav­ity En­duro take place on Oc­to­ber 7.

Tak­ing off from the sum­mit of Falls Creek’s Mt McKay, riders will tra­verse tracks and ter­rain to the shores of Lake Guy, cov­er­ing a 23km course.

While no events are on the cal­en­dar, you can take in the sights at Mt Buf­falo, Mt Hotham and Mt Buller and en­joy what­ever ac­tiv­i­ties or hos­pi­tal­ity may be on of­fer.

Oc­to­ber also sees the be­gin­ning of the 7 Peaks Ride, a cy­cling chal­lenge that takes place across sev­eral lo­cal moun­tains from Oc­to­ber un­til April next year.

BIG NAME: Aus­tralia’s no.1 ranked Alpine Racer Alec Scott has re­turned home to Falls Creek for spring train­ing and a busy Europa and World Cup sea­son. Scott also has his sights set on se­lec­tion and good re­sults at the Win­ter Olympics in Fe­bru­ary. The snow base at Falls Creek has re­mained at an in­cred­i­ble 165cm even as the snow sea­son nears its end.
